Doug will build the boat. An attempt will be made to keep build time and cost as low as possible. Therefore female molds will be avoided, but a high quality build is required to make the finished boat competitive. A pragmatic approach will be atempted to balance cost, time competiveness, fun etc...
The new boat will be built to replace an older boat (Tomahawk GBR 4019). Doug will start be renovating Tomahawk and then build bits to create a 2nd set of parts. This allows him to sail while building but requires that the workshop that can accomadate 2 boats, their equipment and a possible mold. Once the new boat is complete the older parts will be sold as a complete boat.
There is no time frame for completion. The aim is to take a renovated Tomahawk to the Worlds in 2006 and then get the new boat finish after that. Since deveopment is happening so fast the build should not take too long or the deisgn will be out of date before the boat is built. However this is supossed to be fun so there are no deadlines.
